The state legislature is debating several bills impacting reproductive health- your voice is needed!
House Bill 1373 is a radical ‘Personhood’ bill at the state legislature. At its core, this bill seeks to redefine the term “human being” to mean a fertilized egg—upon the fusion of a human sperm and egg- within the North Dakota criminal code. This sweeping change would have far-reaching consequences by redefining criminal offenses, including murder, to apply to fertilized eggs.
The implications of this bill are not just alarming—they are terrifying!
Under this bill, in vitro fertilization (IVF) could be a criminal act for the woman and the provider. Physicians would be forced to choose between following medical protocols or risking legal consequences. Despite the bill’s “exception” for spontaneous miscarriage, any situation where a fertilized egg doesn’t implant or a pregnancy ends could be investigated and treated as a criminal issue. ❌ Click here to tell them to defeat HB 1373!
⭐ It’s time to make it clear to our legislators that North Dakotans want real progress—not more attacks on our fundamental rights. ⭐ Rep. Karla Rose Hanson’s proactive efforts to protect access are exactly the kind of leadership we need, and it’s up to us to stand with her. She is championing HB 1477 and HB 1478 to protect fertility care and contraceptive access – essential health care for many North Dakotans.
Let’s send a powerful message that we won’t back down when it comes to defending our freedoms. Email your legislators now and urge them to pass HB 1477 and HB 1478. ✅Click here to send your message!
Together, we can push for policies that move us forward, not backward.
In solidarity,

p.s. In 2014 North Dakota voters overwhelmingly rejected a similar ‘Personhood’ measure at the ballot box by a two to one margin. HB 1373 is an even more radical attempt to control women and is a clear violation of privacy that should never be acceptable in a free society.
