Urgent Act: Senators Cramer and Hoeven vote against Right to Contraction Acts

June 13, 2024

Last week North Dakota’s federal delegation cast votes that, yet again, fail to protect the health and future of millions of Americans.

On June 5th, the U.S. Senate voted on the Right to Contraception Act, a simple bill that protects the right to contraception, which has been threatened across the country. Despite overwhelming public support, nearly every Republican senator voted against this crucial legislation- including our very own North Dakota Senators Kevin Cramer and John Hoeven. Take Action!

The Right to Contraception Act would have protected contraception from further attempts to restrict and deny access. We know access to contraception is under attack. Many of Trump’s policies as president made it harder to access birth control — particularly for people living below the poverty line and working families including changes to the Title X family planning program and deep cuts to the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. Act Now!

Their votes do NOT represent the needs and values around contraception:

  • 90% of Americans will use contraception in their lifetimes.
  • 58% of women who use oral contraceptive pills use them for reasons beyond preventing pregnancy, and 15% use it solely to treat health conditions.
  • Almost all women who identify as religious have ever used contraceptive methods, including 99% of Christians–mainline Protestants, evangelical Protestants, and Catholics–and 96% of people with other religious affiliations.

✊ Take a stand for contraception and reproductive rights! Send this email to Senator Kevin Cramer and Senator John Hoeven! ✊
