Tutorial on using the Vote 411 Guide

City Commission

Similarly to a city council, city commissions develop and adopt county laws on a wide variety of topics such as public health, parks, solid waste management, roads and highways, zoning and land use. A lot of their decisions can affect your everyday life.

School Board

School board representatives can pass important policies to protect students from harassment, discrimination and bullying.

They can also fight back against book bans and attempts to restrict conversations about race, sexual orientation, and gender in the classroom.

Park Board

Park Board members create direction for the park district to meet needs, such as creating more community green space, adding more bike trails, building accessible playground, or offering new programs like community baseball leagues.

They also oversee the preservation and protection of open spaces to manage projects like native plantings or wetland restoration.

District Judges

Judges have the authority to hear and decide court cases in any county in the district. They have the final say on issues regarding basic civil rights, religious freedoms, voting rights, affirmative action, etc.

Below are offices that are running in this year’s primaries.

US Senate

US Senators duties including introducing and voting on bills and serving on committees. A lot of your rights depend on decisions made by your senators.

Representative in Congress

The U.S. Congress makes laws that influence our daily lives. They serve as a voice for the people of our state within the federal government.
